Kai Uwe Faust

Kai Uwe Faust has always been fascinated by history, art and myhtology. At the end of his teenage years, he deepened his knowledge of pre-christian mythology and animism, and turned away from monotheism.

In 2001, he became apprentice tattoo artist with Astrid Köpfler and toured for eight years through Scandinavian Viking Markets, doing strictly traditional tattoos in the summer, while working in 'Living Art Studio' throughout the rest of the year.

In 2008 he recieved an invitation to work as a guest artist at Kunsten på Kroppen where he’s still exercises his art to this day. The demand for his unique style of tattooing soon grew to huge proportions and eventually, he published a book of some of his work : « Nordic Tattoo ».

Kai then went on to become a founding member of experimental folk band Heilung. Their music is based on texts and runic inscriptions from Germanic people of the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Viking Age. Heilung describe their music as 'amplified history from early medieval northern Europe'.

He’s the author of Heilung art, jewellery and designs like the serigraphy trilogie made with the help of Christopher Juul who made all colouration and digital work, and Maria Franz who spends time on the project, either during the digitalisation or the communication process.
